Last month was 435 miles outside and 497 miles on the trainer. I doubt I'll get those numbers this month.

Wind chill of 5* F so 2 hours on the trainer today.

I haven't ridden in a couple of months but started again a few days ago…I liked these monthly challenges for I'll put myself down for 100km this month.

MTD - 32km (in 3 rides)

The weather here in Maryland has been frigid since the start of the New Year, so I'm really hoping to be able to get in 100 for Jan. New Years resolution is to ride at least 300 days this year. 10 so far on the trainer.

3/1 - 10.9

MTD: 10.9
Goal: 100

I did better than expected last month and got 370 after I set a goal of 275. This month I'm looking for over 400. However, this weekend is shot except for the rides as it's going to get dang cold for here and we may even see a bit of ice!

I'm in for 150 this month by commuting alone. Hopefully I can get in some longer rides on my days off and hit 200. It's hard making time with a 14 month old at home.

Rode to my WW meeting this morning. It was just 0 degrees but seeing as how we have green grass and clear roads I figured I had nothing to complain about. I made the commitment to ride as much as possible in January so I got myself out the door. It felt great.

January 4 -14.23km
second ride today - 8km

MTD - 55km

Heart rate in that segment is in the high 170 and low 180s pending how the wind is blowing and how fast we're rotating on the front. Max hr pegs around 184. There is a sprint point about 1k from a small bridge that goes over the railroad tracks. The slight decent is enough to get a lead out up to around 40mph into the wind and the sprinters kick it up to 45+ fighting for the line. Lately I've been partnering with a my best friend and lead him out trying to deliver him as close to the line as possible, usually there are a few efforts from others coming off the bridge. But I use my extra weight advantage off the hill as a launch pad n hold the momentum

Then we turn around and race back at slightly slower pace cuz the road curves into the head wind more often then not. Group is usually strung out single file from bike lane to yellow line into the wind.
Last crit I did, I got busted out due to someone elses wreckage. The average speed for me battling from the back with 3 others dudes was ~22-23 mph. The Leaders were holding 25-26, cat 2 guys were in the 30s for 19 miles. miles or so. It's not the average speed..that number is deceiving. It's the ability to accelerate rapidly. You'll be sitting int he pack and 10 guy break out off the front... everyone wants to catch them, so it starts to dial up, then reel it. Last lap is insane. Sprints were in the 1000+ wattage range, 35 mph finishes.

I need that excess heat so i can enjoy my bike rides without any warmers or jackets. Hell I even been riding with no gloves this week!
