100+ Mile Club January Edition - It's a NEW YEAR, let's do SOME MILES!!!

It's a new year and time to set some goals for this month. Post your mileage goal for the month and show your month-to-date progress.

If you haven't participated in the 100+ Mile Club, you really should; it's a great motivational tool to get all of us off the sofa, surfing the 'net or whatever and get FIT!!

I did 402 miles in Dec. It's gonna be a little harder to top or meet that in Jan, as I was on vacation for the entire month of Dec, but I'm gonna give it a shot.

Got the bike ready to go..... Now I just gotta get the motivation to bang out some miles today!

My Jan goal is 400. 0 MTD

Last month I did 615 and half that was in the last 8 days. Bring it back down to earth and go for 450miles, 30k ft vertical and my normal 2 centuries per month.

Man. Your mileage continues to astound me.

I'm in for 200 miles this month; I'm trying to get my hours/week up significantly before the motorbike track day season starts, so hopefully will do better. Got more miles than expected last month,

thanks, it sorta becomes easy almost routine-like when my Saturday club rides are 80-110 mile days, pending what the route is and vibe I get from my wife if I can get an extra hour on the bike. 40-50 miles are with the club, 25 miles to get to the start and whatever I have energy for on the way home with 90% chance of detour milage. Generally I try to be home by 2-3pm so I can shower and still have some family time and run around somewhere. Good days I leave the house at 7am and only really stop for a brunch at the deli our club is sponsored by and fit what ever miles I can in that time frame. Few lunch or night rides during the week keeps legs pretty primed for Saturday's abuse.

With my form up, my buddies are trying to drag me into crit racing this season so that will really impact my mileage count. Gonna be crazy change to going from fast 4-5hr rides to very fast 40min race. Might have to do multiple races to get my energy out

This sounds like it could be fun. Gotta put that "new" bike of mine to good use. May be kind of difficult what with the weather we're having here in Chicago today, but I'm gonna give 100 miles for January a try. If the weather is too bad and I have to spin on a trainer at the gym, do those "miles" count?

I say count those miles! My reasoning goes like this: riding a trainer is boring, so you get some credit for "riding" while suffering boredom. I understand the bad weather keeps a lot of us from riding, so if the best you can do is ride a trainer (or rollers), you should be able to count those miles.

If it weren't for rollers, my mileage would be very small.

Been off the bike for a couple of months and I have 2 kids under a year and a half. I'm shooting for 150 miles this month. I would be excited to get out that much. Gotta do it!

Unless the weather really turns sour I should easily hit 400 miles. One long 50-60 mile weekend ride and 2-3 weekday rides averaging 20+ miles.

I don't have a need to ride a trainer, but I think the rules should permit counting trainer "miles" based on the total time multiplied by one's actual riding average. Speed on most trainers can be meaningless.

1/26 - 356 miles thus far and fair weather. I should easily exceed 400 miles by Friday evning thanks to an 80 mile r/t ride to/from the Pinnacles last weekend.

After the last 2 months, I'll play it by ear for 100... Sad part is, I need to avg 150/month this year

1-1 21.1 - 3.8 on gravel! (muh butt hurts)
and now it's snowing/sleeting today

What kind of heart rate/ power are you putting out in the group rides? The amount of energy I put out in my crits leaves me feeling like I'm wrapping up a pretty fast group ride.

My last known max hr is 192 and I haven't seen that in a while. Our flat/fast club route we do every other week is a out n back up the coastline. The strava segment for when the gas turns on is 16.6miles traveled at average of 25mph or 37-38mins. The second half of that segment is 8.7miles and pr'd at 28mph ave. Heart rate in that segment is in the high 170 and low 180s pending how the wind is blowing and how fast we're rotating on the front. Max hr pegs around 184. There is a sprint point about 1k from a small bridge that goes over the railroad tracks. The slight decent is enough to get a lead out up to around 40mph into the wind and the sprinters kick it up to 45+ fighting for the line. Lately I've been partnering with a my best friend and lead him out trying to deliver him as close to the line as possible, usually there are a few efforts from others coming off the bridge. But I use my extra weight advantage off the hill as a launch pad n hold the momentum

Then we turn around and race back at slightly slower pace cuz the road curves into the head wind more often then not. Group is usually strung out single file from bike lane to yellow line into the wind.

In for 100. I don't commute now (lost my job a couple weeks ago) so I'm going to have to mix it up with mountain and hopefully some club road rides (my church riding group might be branching out onto asphalt soon

I haven't ridden in two months and very little in the month before. But now I am in Arizona and will crank it back up again. I dont know how long it will take to get back in riding shape but I'll give a shot at 350 miles for the month.

I went out in the car this morning to get some business done in another town. It was over 40*F when I left the house and I was commenting (complaining) to the wife that the highway dept. had put down even more salt on the road. As we got further down the road, anywhere there was a shadow, the road was frosty and icy. We wiggled and slid around a bit, even when trying to be conservative. Then I thought about how dangerous it would be on the bike.

A little further along and there were flares in the road; some guy had spun out in his pickup truck and crashed.

Sometimes you just can't ride on the road!

Anyway, I rode 17 miles on the rollers.

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 48 miles
