Can you convert rear brakes to front ?

Can you convert rear brakes to front ?
I have a few rear calipers and wanted to use them for fornt brakes, has anyone done this ? I know you need a longer bolt to go thru the fork, anyone know the size ? and do they sell them ?

brake mounting bolts are manufactured to use a 6mm thread ...
usually the center bolt is such that each manufacturer makes their own bolts too.
which is not hardware store standard ..
there are recessed sleeve nuts , made in various lengths these days ..
QBP a big Wholesaler to Retail bike shops offers these special type of fitting..

What does your fork look like?
Most modern forks are designed for recessed brake nuts. Back when all forks were metal, brake nuts were "one size fits most". With carbon forks came a variety of fork thicknesses and the need for different length brake nuts. The last time that I bought a front caliper brake it came with 4 different length brake nuts.
That's a long way to say that most bike shops probably have a drawer full of the things. If they like you one might even be a "gimmie".

Also, what do your brakes look like? Are they made to use external nuts or recessed nuts?

i've done it using a front brake bolt from the same manufacturer. just swapped brake arms. but, as mentioned, i wouldn't be surprised if you could find a really, really, long recessed nut that might reach. that would be the easy way.
BTW, if it works you just might find the cable attachment point is on the "wrong" side. i haven't found any reason to care one way or the other, if that happens. YMMV.
