I am thinking of buying a pair but I am little hesitant that I will have too many flats. Any comments?

What size are you looking at? I have 500 miles or so on the 650Bx38 Lierre's and they've been great so far.

My bike takes 26" tires, so I was thinking of the 26 x 1.75 or 1.5.

If they are quick to replace tubes in the event of a puncture ..

you may like the light weight and supple casing the premium price gets you.

I've got the Hetre's on my 650B Kogswell. I've gotten a couple flats in a couple years of riding them, but they roll quick, are super at fast cornering and are damn good protection from flats.

I also rode 700C 29mm Cerfs for a little more than a year. They too are fantastic performers, but oh my! did I get flats on those. Riding in Baltimore was absolutely NOT COMPATIBLE with those tires. A year ago I rode a century ride south out of the city with those tires mounted. I managed to get home after repairing 5 (!) flats. Three were in the rear, two in the front. I found each and every piece as I repaired them- glass, wire and metal bits. I feared I would run out of patches or arm strength from pumping that day. I CANNOT recommend those tires unless you ride on very clean roads.

I've got a pair of the 1.75 tires and recommend them highly, they are fantastic on pavement and gravel, work tolerably well on mud and snow, and I've had no trouble with flats.

My set up is quite similar to yours. Older non suspended mountain bike, Panasonic, fender, rear rack, currently changing handlebars to butterfly type. I need to take photos.

I will be riding on city streets, so there is a concern for glass, etc.

1: width? 1.5 or 1.75

2: what is the difference in GB 26 inch tires and panaracer paselas?

I've used them for about 2.5k commuting miles so far. I know heine thinks they're less prone to flats, but they seem to pick up goat heads like nobodies business. However, I started running them tubeless and they're amazing. Zero problems since then. I have the 650x42 size.
