Not knowing what direction you are coming from and very little road experience north of Mt High I would suggest parking at the gas stations in Cajon and ride your bike up to Mt High and then down to the back side (maybe 25 miles?) and then turnaround and climb to the finish. That would probably give you a good 70-75 miles? I will be there and I think because of the stage finish it will be easier to ride there.

There is a Fire Station and Post office in Valyermo with space to park and probably safe too. That's where I will park on
Valyermo Road. That is a great climb.

Hopefully there will be some food and cold coke at Mountain High. Might need a nap, too.

looking at the details more... Please let me know your thoughts on the plan below
I would like to park near teh summit (so i can wait for the peloton to arrive more comfortably)... Park at the mtn high resort, go down angeles crest hwy, u turn at 138, then go up ACH and down Big pines hwy and u turn at the base...
not sure if i can even do that much climbing... but worth a shot

Bump...any info on whether the parking lot at Mtn High will be open that day? Or is that where the finish area/festival will be?

I am pretty sure the finish is at Table Mountain which would be Mt High North? I would think Mt High West and East would be for all the spectator parking.
I am riding up from Cajon Junction to the first vista on Hwy 2 (by Blue Ridge Road) and then back to the finishing line. I might go down to Big Pines Hwy to the lake and back as I have never been over that side.

What's that climb from the main parking lot up Table Mtn. Rd like? I know it's only two miles but if it's like 20% that might suck with no warm-up...

I plan to drive and sit myself down on the climb somewhere to Mountain High... look for me - I will be waving a cow bell!

Was thinking about what type of ride I wanted to do and decided that this is what I'll be doing. The dirt parking lot at the post office is huge! And you are correct that it is a fairly safe area also. The climb from the post office starts out easy and gives enough time for a decent warm-up before hitting the long climb. It will be a nice ride after the race back down the hill. Let's hope that the pros don't return to Santa Clarita for the night the same way they came up the hill.
