Got out this morning another short ride, this month a little over 21 miles. A job and a half gets in the way of some stuff oh bother. Life should slow done towards the end of next month so more miles as time allows and I get in better shape.

Did my usual 7.25 miles route this morning. I'm sounding like a broken record about the wind & cold temps, 41°F & windy again. Hope I'm not still saying this in July
Our lakes & rivers are still frozen & there is still a few feet of snow in the woods.

I'm going for 100 this month.
4-3: 14.1mi - Memphis Hightailers "Urban Legends" Ride (my first group ride)
4-6: 7.9mi - Did my first "Brick" - ran intervals for 30 mins directly after the ride (pouring rain)
4-17: 13.5mi - "Urban Legends" Ride - Had a flat & no spare, so I was stuck on 40lb Mt Bike
4-20: 13.3mi - Basic training route. 15.9mph avg (shooting for 16+ by 5-17)
4-26: 13.4mi - "Brick" Basic training route (@15.7mph) followed by 32 minutes of interval running.
MTD: 60.02/100
Next Scheduled ride is 5-1 so... it looks like I came up short again...

New guy here. Been riding about a year now. After a long winter of putting another layer of insulation on I've had a pretty steady April. I will be attempting my first Ride Across Indiana this July (156 miles).
I'd like to be putting more miles on the bike right now but between full time college and work it leaves me with only about 30-45 minutes on most days to work out. So when I can't get in the saddle I get some crosstraining in.
So far in April
4/6 44.09 @ 14mph
4/12 50.34 @ 13.7
4/18 20.75 @ 16
4/23 20.71 @ 15.6
4/27 40.0 @ 14.5
However at the end of my rides now I still have energy and am powering up the hills like never before.

Well, still a couple of days to go, but happy to say that the month hasn't been too bad. Still a few problems with getting comfortable on the long rides again, but making good progress. Thrown into the mix this month is a new steed in the barn, a BH Zenith 29er. Had a few rides on that, and it is good fun!
Month Target: 750km (466 miles)
So far this month: 869km (540 miles)!

Took advantage of today's fine weather before the predicted rain the rest of the week, and had an excellent ride!

4/10: 10 miles
4/12: 25 miles
4/13: 6 miles
4/14: 5 miles
4/17: 20 miles
4/22: 13 miles
4/28: 25 miles (1hr 40min ride time--getting better than my former ride times, the same route earlier this month took 2hours to ride while the same rides last summer took me over 2 hours)
MTD: 129.7 miles (Goal was 100 miles)
Looking forward to MAY! I have three scheduled "long" rides including a bike camping trip over Memorial day weekend.

Just checking to say I made my April goal of 150 miles. Finished with 152. Expecting horrible weather the next 2 days so I'll likely not ride again this month meaning I did my miles over 14 rides.

I wimped out this morning ... and said no to a commute in wet/windy/cold conditions (39 degress, north winds 15-20mph) ... I'll put in some miles tonight at the gym. Already over my goal so everything tonight is just gravy.

It's been raining lately after work, so haven't been on the bike all week. Beautiful on Saturday, but I had a wedding to go to.
Sunday I planned to ride as my wife had the entire weekend off. Weekends are different though to sitting at work. You don't realize how cold it is out this time of year because I am usually waiting watching the weather until I go home from work and then it is finally warmed up. My birthday was Monday and usually we have the family gathering thing on the weekends for lunch for birthdays. My wife said she wasn't having anyone over, which was perfectly fine with me. She was just going to make me a nice dinner and asked if I would be home around dinner time, which is usually 5 pm for us. I kept putting off riding because it was only 40° out and I could just wait for later when it was above 55°. She kept bugging me and bugging me around noon time. Told her I wasn't going to go out yet. Instead of traveling to a trail I wanted to ride, I pulled the bike out and had it ready out in the driveway for a later ride on my normal roads around the house.
My oldest daughter had some clothes she wanted to return to the store. They bugged me to take her to the mall, which Dad in the mall with a teenage daughter is a nightmare as many of you may know, LOL. Finally I succumbed to the deed because Wifey wanted to also clean the house since I was taking Monday off work and Monday is her normal clean the house day. So, I'm at the mall and my daughter is clothes shopping, how boring for a guy can that be, LOL. Finally she is done and we head home (we are about 45 minutes from any shopping living in the middle of nowhere.)
We get home and the house is full of people! I had no idea and had never had a surprise birthday party before. Everyone was there, the house was completely decorated, she had a cake that she made, huge Lasagna dinner prepared, the works. I couldn't believe it. Later on, I headed outside in the dark to put my poor bike back in the garage. No riding done this weekend.
Now it is rain in the forecast until next weekend.

Well, since I didn't feel up to a ride yesterday after working a little late, and the fact that the next ride will be Thursday, I will close out my log for April.

On Sunday I rode in the Salem Bicycle Club's Monster Cookie Metric Century. The weather was abysmal. Over 900 riders opted out and I saw many riders calling for rides at the turn around point. I encountered heavy rains, strong winds and I rode in a hail storm for about three miles. The winds were especially strong during the hail. At one point I saw a rider in front of me get blown over into the on coming traffic lane. Thankfully it was on a lightly traveled country lane.
The paucity of finishers allowed those of us that did finish to get two of the monster cookies at the finish instead of one. YUM!

I'm working up my rides in mileage getting ready for my first century...
Early this month I just got the bike back after upgrading to Ultegra 6800... So a few short test rides in Central Park... The last few weeks have been mostly 30/40 mile rides with a 50 here and there.
I've got a 50 miler and a 60 planned for this weekend.
Total for April was 503 km.
