2005 Spec'd Sirrus Tire Width
Would it be possible to run a 35C or maybe even a 38C tire on this frame? Is there a way that I can check this myself without having to ask others?

I don't know if the sirrus has room in the front fork for 38's, last time I checked at the LBS, the 04' sirrus disc was pretty tight.

Whoa.. how much $$ did you lose in that deal?
Why would you go with the sirrus and not the allez? The difference is only like 150 bucks or so. I can't believe the shop didn't try to do something else to accomodate you.

The Specialized "Sirrus" WILL NOT accomodate a tire wider than a 30/32! A "small" 30/32 at that!!!
I have Bontrager "Jones CX"'s on my Sirrus disc now--they JUST fit...WITHOUT the front clip-on fender (which I had to remove 'cause the tire rubbed too much! ).
The "widest" tire the Sirrus is designed to handle, comfortably, is a "28".
Sorry!!

Probably not... you'll probably need something like a cyclocross bike or touring bike.
If I were you, and no offense to your weight, and several hundred pounds, I'll probably need a 36 spoke (at least) rim with 35-38 tires and disc brakes if you intend on being able to stop a lot w/o heating up the rims or anything.
Have I told you how much I'm in love with my giant ocr touring?

I wonder why you didn't just get the OCR touring to begin with.
It's a road bike, avid bb disc brakes, 36H front and rear deore disc hubs, extra spoke holder in case you break any on the way...

Measuring it, the distance for front and back is 2.125 inches. So you can go as wide as that.
Hell if you want, as long as the rotor's the same size and the cassette's the same speed, take the wheels off your mountain bike and mount it on the ocr touring and go mtb'ing with it.

It's last year's model though. How about a cannondale cyclocross bike?
https://www.cannondale.com/bikes/05/cusa/model-5XR1.html
The giant if you can find it onsale as last year's model you can get it for $1100 or so.
The cannondale you can get for $1600 or so.

I know right, it's everything you're hoping for in life lol.
I would've gotten that if only it weren't for the $700 diff. between that and the ocr touring at my lbs.
