Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

wanting to buy a new single speed

I've been reading tons of threads on this topic. Everyone suggests the kilo tt, and i have to agree. Its a very nice bike at a great price, but they are out and I'm wanting to pick up a bike now. Whats everyones second choice on a bike in that price range? thanks.

Kilo WT, SST-AL if you want aluminum/carbon fork, Fantom Cross Uno if a single speed cross bike would work for you. Windsor The Hour gets plenty of recommendations here. Cheaper, cheaper components but decent frame that you could upgrade on.

I have a Fyxation Eastide frame set that I built up and very happy with quality. Completes sell for $595

$750 gets you a really nice Wabi Classic

A lot of people hate on State but if I only wanted to spend around $400 I would consider one. I have seen them in person and it didn't look like complete junk to me.

The purefix premium is getting positive reviews, even though they used to be just marginally better than a big shot.

I've been looking at the state co. matte black 4.0. I'm just wanting something for short easy rides. I live in central indiana where its flat. The fire dept. I work at is 3 blocks away. Most my rides are done on my steel Ciocc.

Oh yeah, there's that too. But that one is also sold out. What size are you looking for? Looks like most sizes Kilo are available here
