hello from the weird coast
hello to all,
i did my first post after following many of the threads on this forum for quite a while....interesting to see "newbie" by my username as i am far from it.
i still have my first/s "real bikes purchased new in the 70's a schwinn paramount and a peugeot px-10 with the nervex lugs. over the years i have kept cycling along with running but as of late more of the former than the latter!
i marvel at the bikes my students ride and am amazed to see the new technology and how much things have changed and remain the same... i still am old school and ride the vintage steel not because i think its better but like a pair of old shoes (ideal!) that are well worn and broken in the reynolds 531 is what i am used to and fits me just fine.
i have a picked up a few more bikes along the way and have had luck at the local flea markets as well as the dreaded "bay" and "list" and can remember when old steel fell out of favor because of the aluminum "rush" and the "new age" carbon fiber......i wish i would have bought more of the stuff i passed up.....anyway it's nice to be new again!
i hope to be able to answer some posts in the future i know i still will have a lot of questions.

I'm new to the weird coast and bike forum! So many bikes to choose from and I don't want a beach cruiser bc I live on a semi - steep hill about a mile from the beach
