Best Shim?

I'm going to make a shim for my handlebars, because I've got 25.4mm bars and a 26.0mm clamp. The LBS recommended I make a shim from a pop (soda) can, since that's what they told me they'd do.

So what can should I make my shim out of? I was thinking a Redbull or Starbucks Doubleshot can, because it's going to be for a track bike. But maybe I could use a PBR can or a Mountain Dew can. What say you?

If you need a thicker shim get a more exspensive brew. Otherwise go with your favorite embibery. I usually use a Diet Pepper can.
You can also go old school and get real shim stock from a good machine shop. These come in real spec'd sizes
