Here ya go:

Note: if you have SRAM derailleurs, then you have to use SRAM shifters to match the cable pull. As Elvo said though, before spending money, why not just see is you can manage without them? I rarely look at my shifters.

Put a set of X7 thumbshifters without indicators on one of my recumbents a few years ago - I was surprised by the omission but remembered that I had ridden with friction downtube shifters for years and that, as far as I know, brifters don't have indicators.
I can see the front rings, but have to make educated guess as to which rear cog I am on. (On most 'bents, can't look back and see the cassette) On a steep hill, I can tell pretty well when I am down to the lowest cog. Not a problem.

I like being able to glance down at the shift indicator to see what gear I am in. Not while just cruising along, rather when approaching a stop sign or some other obstruction that requires slowing or stopping.

I had indicators on my hybrid and when I went to a road bike the upgraded components did not have them. I really hated going without them until I actually rode it and found I didn't even miss them. They serve no useful purpose don't sweat it.
