If you have the time, take a look at this bike and let me know what you think. Good, bad, etc..

It isn't a WINDSOR as in the fine british bicycle marque. It is a made in China bike with a quasi Windsor sticker probaly sold by some guy out of his basement. It might be worth $549 , it certainy isn't worth the $1400 MSRP. My bet is the warranty isn't worth the paper it is printed on.

That is what I was thinking, they were trying to mimic a foreign trademarked product. But if it has the specs listed on the eBay page, it might be worth about 500.....if the frame is good.

Anyway, the general opinion is that the company that retails them is shady, the parts are aftermarket, and I don't know many in this forum that would trust them for dedicated touring.

Edit: SO as not to be labeled a ped-ant, let me just add that I bought a Windsor Touring Elite in 1982 which is, SUrprise, converted to a fixed gear. It was ridiculous, think they were desperately trying to cash in on any trend to save themselves, at the time I think touring bikes were hot. It had 2 chainrings and a 14-28 5-speed freewheel, with nice suntour cyclone components, but the geometry was all wrong, too short top tube. I swapped the crank out for an SR super custom triple with the 50-45-26 combo a few years later. Anyway, it's been ridden more in the last two years than in the previous 20.
i don't know anything about the new ones, 'cept I like new logo better, so I got it from their website and am gonna have a graphics guy burn a sticker for the head badge.

My favorite Windsor story is the Eddy Merckx hour-record in Mexico City, when Windsor labels were slapped on his bike at the last minute, setting poor Colnago ablaze. Windsor advertised Eddy riding one of "their" bikes into history for years.

I have a Windsor Tourist and I like it. It's my 6th bike. The bike was shipped quickly and arrived in pristine condition (better than some of my LBS assembled bike!). I've been commuting to work on it and it has performed flawlessly.
