Mountain bike for beginner
Hi
I'm not actually a 'mountain biker' per se, but I am selling my car and looking to buy a mountain bike in replacement. Basically, I know nothing about mountain bikes other than the fact that I want one!
I've been looking around for bikes for a couple of weeks and have come across a couple of bikes in the Trek range that I think look pretty smart. I did actually have a trek a few years back but it got stolen and never replaced.
So, what am I looking for? £300 tops, mainly on-road use apart from maybe a quick splash across a few fields etc, and it has to look nice
These two both look nice, the 2nd in particular for the frame colour
3900
4300
What would you recommend?
Also, how do I work out the best frame size for my body? I'm about 6 feet tall, but how does that relate to frame size? Both those come up to 22.5" frame.
Cheers for any help, advice or suggestions!

What about the bike frame size etc? How does it relate to inside leg measurements etc.?

go ride them, and talk to the folks at your local bike shop, aka LBS. they should be able to fit a bike to you.

I would, but because of my current situation I have to get it off the internet so that means I cant actually go out and ride it before I buy it.
