I really like the seat tube area on the Ringleader. Super sweet frame all around.

Just some questions for my soon-to-arrive Soma Rush in Khaki Green:

1) I need a 1" threadless headset for a Khaki Green Soma fork. Is the FSA Orbit X headset that you carry 1" and what is the crown race ID ? Also, what color would you choose for Khaki Green: silver or black ?

2) I'm thinking of building up a rear wheel with a silver IRO (Formula) fix/fix hub, silver spokes/nipples and lime green non-machined Velocity Deep-V rim. Do you know how close the lime green is to the khaki green to be a good match ? Also, I'm lacing 3X on a 32 hole rim / hub, and my calculated spoke length is 281mm, based on 582 ERD, 62mm hub spoke hole diameter and about 63mm (measured) flange spacing. Do you concur ? Finally, do you think the Sapin Laser spokes / nipples are a good match for this setup ? Would you lace them differently, such as 2X ?

The frame and fork are due to arrive on Monday.

Thanks,

TT

YES! I'm placing an order so you better not be yanking our legs and pulling our chains. I'm too lazy to pull off an old frame sticker, so I'm just gonna put an RG one over it. In fact, I'm placing an order with other stuff specifically for the stickers (not really).

The Orbit-X headsets we have in stock are 1 1/8" but we can get 1" upon request and they only take a few days to get here. Crown race is 26.4mm. I'd most likely build it up with all silver components so I'd choose silver.

Velocity's lime green is brighter than Soma's 'khaki green' and I think it may end up looking weird and tarcky. Do you already have the rim?

My calculations for spokes came out to 280.9 for 3X so yeah, you're right there. Persoanlly, I'd use 279 to allow for re-tensioning after the spokes settle into place and 'stretch' a bit. IMO, Lasers and Polyax nips are always a good idea. I've become a fan of 2X lacing, so that's most likely what I'd do (spoke length for that is 269mm, just in case).

Make sure you add a note along with your payment to throw in the stickers, just in case I'm not the one who gets your order together.

Thanks Scrod. By the way, I dunno if this has been asked, but is there a method of payment that's best for you guys, or that makes the shipping process faster?

Is there a real difference for you between paypal or a debit/credit card? Let me know, thanks.

No prob! PayPal, debit or credit card payments are instant. The only payment method that slows things down is an e-check, which can take up to a week to clear.

I don't have the rim yet, just the hub, but was asking because I saw you have that color in 32H NMSW and would buy it from you. I assume you meant 279mm, not 289mm ? I definitely don't want a weird color match, and understand that slightly different color tones can look really bad. What would you choose ? My second thought was silver.

Oops...yeah, 279mm.

If you're looking for a veep, my first choice would be bright silver. That will look classy. What are you doing for a front?

I haven't decided on the front yet. Initially, I may just use one of my box section / shallow section road wheels with a bolted skewer. I have a nice Velomax (Easton) Circuit front wheel with 24H radial straight pull spokes that might look good and is both light and strong. Since I'll be running a front brake, I definitely want a rim that has a MSW. Beyond that, something like an Aerohead, radial 24H on a yet TBD hub.

The rest of the bike is up in the air, really. I was thinking of maybe treating myself to some Sugino 75s with a sealed BB like the Protype one Ben's Cycle sells. I think the Soma quality is better than, say, an Andel so it might be worthy of this expense. For bars, I'm thinking maybe bullhorns again, as I really like them on my Wabi, and the Soma TT length is short enough that I shouldn't need an abnormally short stem. I have a 90mm 17 degree Wabi stem I may try initially, which takes a 26mm bar with a cross brake lever near the stem. Saddle / seatpost, again no idea. I have cheap / worn ones I can use for setup, but IDK what I will end up with. Pedals will be road clipless. Chain probably another silver Whitestar. Tires, I like Conti GP4000 or GP4000s. 700 x 23c, maybe 25c in the rear. Anyway, I've got all winter to work on it.

Nice. I'm in favor of using 75s with a Protype BB. I've been using one for a while now with no issues whatsoever.

Give Nitto RB-002s a try. I bet you'll really like them. If you're interested in a VO Grand Cru seatpost, I've got one in the parts bin that will most likely be going up on the used section of the site soon.

Another good thing about the Sugino 75s is that I've got a whole bunch of chainrings in different sizes for them on my Pista Concept, so I don't have to buy more if I decide to change gearing.

I was also thinking of the RB-002s, because they are nice and narrow / aero. Is there room on them for a cross brake lever near the stem ? The VO will depend on how much setback I need for the saddle, which I'll figure out when I do a mockup.

Oh, and do you have 1" silver aluminum stem spacers ?

There's plenty of room for a cross lever on RB-002s.

I know I have a bunch of 1" spacers in a box somewhere. I just need to dig them out.

D'oh, I was hoping to find a shorter extension stem. Maybe I should have waited on buying nutted brakes and just replaced the fork..

What's up Scrod?

I ordered a pair of Hood Rat's and a Deda Zero-01 stem late Tuesday night. I got the paypal receipt but still haven't received a tracking number, just thought I'd make sure you received the order. Invoice ID is VYRS-758413.

Thanks,

Colin

In the future, please don't use the forum for stuff like this. There's a FAQ page and contact page on the site if needed.

Yesterday's holiday threw off the mail a little bit and I'm pretty sure your stuff is shipping on Monday.

Seeing as there isn't a real difference between the "old" Omniums and the 2012 versions, do you still have any old new stock left?

Do you have any 25.4-26.0 clamp shims? If so, would you mind throwing them in with my handlebar order? I can send a few extra bucks, just let me know.
