I got a wabi lightening SE last year, and I really like it a lot. I haven't exactly been keeping track, but I'm pretty sure it has more miles this year than my other 7 bikes combined.

I know it's a little outside of OP's price range but I sure do like my vigorelli

the steering isn't as twitchy as my kilo, but it's still fairly quick so it feels more precise overall I think

Yup. Superb LOVES to tell people they personally designed that frame.

The Heavy Pedal Zephyr is a rebranded Colossi Al Colosione as well.

I just assumed this, because that is the only size out of stock at RG. Both my Rushes are 49cm, and fit my small body perfectly.

Gonna second this with a little story. A few years ago I was contemplating getting back into bikes, specifically fixed. Same time I had to go to the doctor for my annual "healthcare screening." Walking into the building, I crossed paths with a messenger doing a run. Looked at his bike and saw it was fixed, and asked how it was working for him. Dude was happy and prosperous, and he said go to eighthinch.com to get a "Scrambler" just like his.

So I wound up getting a Kilo instead, and liked it enough to get n+1 a few months later in the form of a Big Block. But I thank that messenger and eighthinch for my return to cycling and my love of FG.

Great story

I'll probably lean towards the Colossi, probably see if Scrod can get the one I want. I am still curious to hear what other people have to say about their frame manufacturers.

Thanks for the reccomedation, but what I'm mainly looking for here are peoples personal experiences with said frames.

Word... i personally like the frame.. but would have a lot more respect for them if they told people why they CHOSE to brand that frame instead of "this is why we had it spec'd this way"

I've owned not one, but two Assenmacher framesets. I had them custom built in the 1970s when I lived in southern Michigan. You also forgot to mention Doug Fattic in Niles Michigan or Mark Nobilette who lived in Ann Arbor Michigan at the time he built my frameset. Then there's Dennis Sparrow in Missoula Montana who built the ultimate camp touring frameset for me. There were many great American framebuilders in those hallowed days, but sadly far fewer today.

they are overpriced when purchased for MSRP ($700). they are extremely light for steel, quite stiff, w/ superb build quality. it's almost a joke if you pick one up, thinking it'll weigh as much as a kilott. (mine fluctuates between 15.5-17lbs).

the geometry on the BK has been known to be a reference to small builders as a benchmark on 'proven geometry' for the track. fast steering, solid stability at high speeds (30mph+).... but my absolute favorite attribute of the BK is....the extremely high bottom bracket.

running 170 cranks w/ mks sylvans it's nearly impossible for me to pedal strike unless there's a severe irregularity in the road mid corner. coming from someone who used to ride motos thru many canyons (and some trackdays)... i'm not afraid to bank her over.

it's by far my favorite of all the bikes i've owned... gets plenty of compliments, comes in uncommon colors (often, girls will randomly compliment the color), and is widely recognized due to it's fork design. ok i'm done. =P

Fyxation Eastside and Fyxation Quiver are both very nice for the price. I own an Eastside and I rode a Quiver that my friend owns just last week. I can't give any sort of veteran review as I'm relatively new to cycling, but I can attest to the build quality of both. The Quiver offers a lot more adaptability. People say the eastside is heavy, but I'm a bigger rider so I don't really notice.

Yeah I know right? Weird. Anyone I did a google search for the frame and there are better photos. The scandium caught my eye.
