My Tourist is all decked out in decals I get from retailers or whenever I buy a bike product and stickers come with. My Kilo I intended to keep clean, as I bought the Stripper version. But I am getting the itch to add stuff to that bike, too.

So what's your preference? Sticker it up? Or keep it clean? Perhaps it depends in your inner hipster, provided you have one.... which I personally do not (so I think).

There's was a thread about this somewhere, but I'll restate my previous opinion.

Sticker bombing a bike is like getting a tattoo (if we're talking purely aesthetics and not as a theft deterrent). There are good tattoos and bad tattoos, and what you put on it says something about your personality which can be positive or negative.

I'd say place stickers with no gap showing in between or a slight overlap, starting from one area and working your way out. I hate the way haphazard and widely spaced stickers looks, I prefer them to be localized (kinda like getting a sleeve tattoo rather than have several spaced out tattoos with bare skin in between). Also I'd keep all the stickers bike brand specific, but that's just me.

Personally I don't sticker my bikes because I'm trying to maintain a vintage/original look or the bike is fairly expensive and prefer the original look/maintaining brand appeal.

^ I have to agree. I sticker bombed my SKS clip on rear fender once. Left it like that for a month. Peeled the stickers off. Yeah, looked better plain.

I never keep the look of my bikes permanent. Paint them, strip and polish them, sticker them, gotta change it about once a year. I recently bought some green sparkly tape off etsy and covered the frame in that for a change of pace. I like the tape because it's pretty quick and easy, and it doesn't mess up the original paint under for resale or if you want it to look good again later.

Depends on the bike and the way you sticker up your bike.

Try to aim for a collage style sticker bomb with overlapping stickers applied at an angle. Not horizontally and right next to each other like nascar sponsors.

Also it's important to mix up the stickers and don't use too many stickers that are similar in design or color or from the same source.

Depends on the bike, I don't put any stickers on my nicer rides, but my kilo has quite a few. I like stealthy placement. Inside the fork legs, chain stays, behind the seat tube, under the down tube, etc. Occasionally one or two out in the open. I can't stand stickerbombing tho.

I'm a hardcore minimalist. No bike decorations for me. I even remove or cover OEM logos. I do the same thing to my motorcycles and cars. Badges off and no license plate frames.

Stealth is sexy.

If it's a classic, like the Basso I'm building, then no stickers really. if it's a beater, then it gets stickers...

my choice of stickers range from I voted today, bike products logo or Jimmy Johns sandwich peelers.

I generally don't put stickers on my bikes, but that's mostly because I never come into possession of any stickers I really like. My current SS bike has a few stickers on it, but they're from the previous owner. I left them on there because I don't care much. If they ever come off, it'll probably be because I decided to strip the entire frame and powder coat it.

Stickers are fine as a theft deterrent or if they are flames to help you go faster or *** shot holes and barbed wire to signify a badass. Usually other times they look hella stupid. There are a few occasions where stickers aren't so bad but usually people don't take the time to place them properly and even and straighten them out.

because this forum is stupid about stuff like this. there is no good reason for it, its just the typical american attitude as of late concerning anything that might even remotely make someone uncomfortable or be considered "politically incorrect".

it censors all kinds of unreasonable words. i have in teh past tried to talk about a grease ***. paint ***. hot glue ***. its ******** (word for being mentally handicapped that rhymes with "re-started" - another ridiculous censor).

Also, someone will probably be along shortly to reprimand us for talking about the censor....

Here's the official reason via a PM from a mod in the past regarding the censor for the three letter word for a firearm.

"The 3 letter word for firearm is censored due to the ultra diverse backgrounds of members here, which results in that word being touchy touchy as it usually sparks debates between proponents and opponents of that subject. Which just like politics, erupts into a big mess and hurt feelings between members."

Its ok to say "firearm" though. We don't want to hurt any feelings.

If you (general) are offended by the word g-u-n you maybe shouldn't leave your rock and go anywhere outside of your rock including the internet. If you cannot have a reasonably civil debate on the subject you (still general) are probably an idiot. People who get so passionate one way or the other that they end up getting stupid should take up either position. Also as people have said g-u-n doesn't have to mean a Glock or a AR-15 or any firearm, it could refer to the massive pythons that are attached at my shoulders (that tend to come out when the sun is out) or things that help with greasing or painting stuff or refer to a movie starring Tommy Cruise where he was a top. It is a word and words cannot hurt anyone because they are text and the only way text could hurt is if a large metal letter falls off a building a clonks you in the head ; )

You are confusing the word "hurt" with the word "injure." Words can definitely be hurtful, while not causing injury, and there definitely are words that should be banned on public forums.

This is absolutely correct. There are plenty of words that are hateful or perhaps just controversial in nature and have no place in general discussion on a bike message board. However, the three letter word in question here is not one of them. It is not offensive, controversial, or hateful in any way. There are many meanings and contexts in which that word can be used that are relevant discussions about bikes.

Also, perhaps we should add bombing and bomb to the censor. Seems just as offensive as gun to me.
