Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

For This Price I'd Rather (fill in the blank)...

Here's a post on Chicago CL.

http://chicago.craigslist.org/bik/69353376.html

Converted Bianchi fixed gear for $300.

I dunno about you but things are getting so pricey they're almost laughable.

But then again I'm a pessimist and a fiscal conservative. Though I hope I'm not the only tightwad around...

Yeah, it is a sad state of affairs. I remember when nice steel road frames with horizontal dropouts could be found for peanuts, if not in someones trash. You could build a cool SS or fixed gear machine for next to nothing.

Roundtrip to vegas on a bus, gamble, buy a hooker, get drunk, stagger back to the bus and pass out for the return trip.

Note: I'm prolly way off on the price of this.

When you're buying it's too much,
When you're selling it's too little..

Life would only be fair,
it all met in the middle.

So the price isn't your liking? Get over it.

And if I was gonna buy a cannon, it'd be a High Pressure Baby **** Cannon.

Dude, you can build one of those for like $20, max, kittens not included. Although I'm assuming the kittens are free (purloined!!). This leaves you $280 for things like adding a sidecar onto your Surly and getting a new yoga mat.

The new model comes with a centrifugal extractor. You put the diaper (full) in the hatch, it spins the ammunition directly to the holding tank. From the holding tank, it's put into the high pressure maganzine where it's pressed to nearly 275 PSI. With that you can shoot a stream of steaming (it is kept heated at 98.3 degrees) baby **** about 45 feet for accuracy. 75 feet for general 1 foot area of impact given no wind. If you're too close, it can cut through clothing.

A little large for the bike.

I'm betting they aren't banned in MT. They don't like banning weapons out there.

I hope she's doing well, too - haven't heard from her in awhile.

On a similar vein.... I see I can buy a used Gios with full Campy locally for $700 cdn (about 560 us) and a same vintage Pinarello with full Campy is bin $1,700 us on ebay.
If I only had the energy and the enterpreneurial spirit.

1> going to local thrift shops to buy crap bikes
2> removing various components
3> ignoring the fact that it has vertical dropouts

4> add the simple phrase "fixed gear" and sell on eBay for $$$$$$

...priceless

talk about culture vultures
