Can anybody tell me anything about this bike just by looking at this picture? This bike is actually for sale, and on his post he doesn't explain anything about it. I dunno much about bikes, so I would like to know a thing or 2 before actually meeting up with him.

Thanks in advance

It is a lame tri bike done up like a track bike. It will handle poorly and it would be more tasteful if it were a two-girls-and-a-cup video.

you don't seem to be looking for any actual advice, rather you just want someone to tell you it's ok to buy it

maybe you'll be the first poster to not throw a hissy-fit when we tell you you're looking at a dumb bike. you'll get laughed at riding that bike. if not to your face then behind your back.

but hey, if you can stand the weird handling and atrocious style, go for it

I was actually more interested in the parts. I'm looking at buying another frame.

Considering you're most likely going to buy it anyway, why bother even asking?

Just buy the stupid bike already, take the parts off that stupid frame and build another equally stupid bike.

Out of curiosity (I know nothing about triathlon bikes...), why is the seat almost over the rear axle on these bikes? And come to think of it, why would you need anything other than a "normal" road bike for a triathlon?

On this specific bike, to the OP: why did this bike grab your attention? You say the seller offers no information, yet you want to use the parts on another frame... what about the parts appeals to you? Is the asking price ridiculously low? Why not just look for the parts you want separately, so you get exactly what you want?

Regarding the style (or lack thereof) of this bike, well, if you have to be told it's fugly, you probably don't care

Tri bikes are designed for time trialling. There is no drafting or riding in groups or aggressive turns or usually even any major hills. The rider is forward in the aero bars and for maximum efficiency the cranks are as directly beneath the hips as possible. You can kind of see it as a regular riding position that has been rotated forward. They can do this because of the nature of the race.

Ah, thanks, makes sense though does that also mean I misinterpreted "tri bike" as meaning triathlon bike (instead of time trial bike, which I thought would have been TT bike), or are the bike portions of triathlons always time trials?

The bike portions of triathlons are always time trials. Because of the nature of drafting people would otherwise get all bunched up before the running transition and it would change the race so that the runners had an unfair advantage. I actually did mean triathlon when I said "tri". There are a number of bikes with rear facing dropouts that also have gears for triathlons. The geometry of the bikes makes the "track ends" more convenient. Unfortunately, it also produces monstrosities like this.

I am not even sure that the parts are worth stripping the bike for. Chances are those are some fake Chinese carbon knock offs with HED stickers on them. Fork looks like a Cervelo, actually the whole bike does but I am not sure on that. Gold cranks? Gold headset? Eckkk

I believe that is a rear skewer if I am not mistaken. Not sure WTF is going on here with this hot mess.
