[PSA] Wabi announces regular production of ultra light Sub 15 wheelset

Under 1500g for the set and only $50 more than the regular wheelset that is already a killer deal.

I have been riding this wheelset since December...

While I am sad to no longer have something exclusive, I do recommend them highly to anyone with weight-weenie-ish tendencies (like me ). Considering their low spoke count...after several thousand miles of not particularly careful riding - mine are still completely true & the hubs spin beautifully. And I think they look pretty good too.

I do not care much for the male bolts, but considering the price - I don't know that a better value wheel-deal exists than these things...

I just messed up my front wabi wheel after slamming between a divider on a bridge and getting a nasty flat. I might pick these up as a replacement/spare.

Was thinking the same thing. What's the rider weight limit?

That's what I started thinking. I'm like Chris Farley looking into the window at suits and David Spade says, "That's not a big & tall store..."

I weigh 205 and have been using the non "light-weight" set of Wabis with no issues. I know low weight/spoke wheels like SOUL say 210 max weight limit so I don't think these would be much of a change from that.

Same here I'm over 2bills and the standard Wabi wheel set has been awesome: light, under-spoken, and have remained laser strait.

I'm sure the Sub15 will be great, all of Richard's stuff is.

I don't know about these wheels, but I have a set of ZIPP 101 wheels on my carbon roadie with 18 front and 20 rear that are rated for riders up to 250 lbs, so I guess anything is possible. A lot of it depends on the rim; shallow section rims don't generally work well with low spoke counts.

Been pretty pleased with my ultra lights. About 3k miles on em..though have broken a spoke on both front and back. Our city streets are brutal, though, and i ride them pretty hard. Roll real smooth and fast.

I'm glad there's an affordable light fixed wheelset on the market, but it really should come in black.

I need these. Put road slicks on them and keep knobbies on my Archetypes.

It's too bad I just purchased my Wabi Classic. I would have happily paid the difference to upgrade to this wheelset. I wonder if there is any possibility of doing that. I imagine the wheelset will be available to purchase as an upgrade when buying a complete Wabi build.

That's the color they currently come in, until August. States that under picture of silver set. Sorta confusing but only color available right now is black.

I've seen 4 sets of Zipp 101's crack between 2 different friends. It works, but long term durability is definitely an issue.

How much do your friends weigh ? I'm pretty lightweight at under 135 lbs, and have about 3K miles on a set that I've been riding over the past 1-1/2 year w/o any problems.

Would there be any reason not to specify the Sub 15 wheelset when ordering a Wabi Classic? I'm ordering one in about three weeks. I'm planning to use the bike both for urban commuting and (road) exercise. Could there be durability issues riding over potholes and cobbled streets? I weigh about 180 lbs right now.

That might help your case. I don't know their exact weights, but if I had to guess, one is probably about 165-175, and the other is probably 185-195?
