    Awesome bike color scheme?

    Hi,
I recently got this bike from gumtree(wont let me post image)
    https://www.flickr.com/photos/127927...posted-public/

and I saw on a youtube video a really cool bike and i was wondering if i could replicate a similar style
what im talking about can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0JoOWHS17I
if u look at the winners bike you will see that his bike has a different color split down the middle.

    or something like this:
    https://www.propain-bikes.com/en/sho...meset-134.html
i was wondering if i could do the same thing but with white and black.
Could you please share your opinions because i just dont want it to end up looking sh*t!!

    thanks
    Piero

It can be done. Anything can be done. Time and money are what it takes. For a quality job, either a professional paint job or possibly powder coating (not sure you can do a split color with this). In the end, to make it look good, you will easily spend more than what the bike cost you, and what it is worth combined.

Unless you are a pro, you will get amateur results. If you are OK with that, then go for it.

Nothing looks a professional on the cheap as a good rattle can job. Just make sure you get some on the tires when you paint those rims.

Your bike, do what you want. Rattle can job looks like rattle can job. The end.

Find a scrap frame and practice.

I've done some nice looking rattle can jobs, but have a lot of experience painting both bikes and model rockets. (some quite large!)

Proper preparation is key, along with spray technique and finishing. Do some research. You gotta start somewhere.

    ^ Nice paint job
I agree rattle can jobs can look decent if the surface is properly prepped and the application is kept even. I used to work at a place that did some refinishing and the paint guns we used essentially applied paint the same way a spray can does. An inexperienced person with one of those would end up with just as many drips as an inexperienced person with a spray can.

Anyway, OP: if you want to use 2 colors you're biggest issue is you'll have a seam due to uneven thicknesses of paint, also keeping that seam clean will be a challenge. Don't get your hopes up if you decide to try it out.

    This is solid advice.

Spray painting is more difficult than it seems. If you want to do it yourself, expect less than stellar results on your first few projects. Also, avoid cheap rattle can paint.
