I'll defer to my Canadian colleagues on this one, but I'm pretty sure you can do better than this.

Raleigh back alley

What would you suggest at this price point? Pure fix perhaps or?

Poor fix is even worse. I'm not sure what's readily available where you live, but avoid anything that's hiten steel. Another Canadian was considering a Fuji Track, but it will be a bit more than $420 CD. If you can get a 6KU Track, that's another good choice.

Hey tejano. The Raleigh frame I guess is not Reynolds steel. What is frame on back alley? And for exercise riding daily, what do you think? On a bit of budget right now. Could I get away with this bike for several years?

The Back Alley is heavy straight gauge hiten steel. You should be able to get something like the Fuji Track with better/lighter butted chromo steel in that price range. But if all you want is a beater for exercise, it will probably hold up for a few years.

Hey tejano! I do remember reading the specs on the Raleigh. Wasn't sure about the metal though. Drop bars don't work for me. Back issues. What about Raleigh langster? On a budget but just curious. I do like bullhorns. Here in Toronto asking 800 plus. Thoughts?

You mean the Specialized Langster ? Specialized Bicycle Components

Great bike, but out of your price range.

Specialized. Yes. The shop I deal with only carries three brands. Raleigh. Pure fix. Specialized. In Dixie. That's why I thought the raleigh would be best at price point and quality. Hmmm.

Looks like your typical geared comfort bike. Never seen one, but a friend of mine got a simlar Trek and likes the riding position. If you've got a bad back it should work for you. Anyways, maybe you should test ride different bikes at your bike shop and just get something that feels good and fits your budget. It's really difficult to give you good advice over the internet.
