Dura Ace vs. ProMax NJS
Need some feedback on a wheelset:
Open Pro rims but can't decide between low flange dura ace hubs (SB) and high flange Pro Max NJS (unsealed) (price is comparable) any thoughts/experience? the bike willl primarily be ridden in the park and the vellodrome |
I've never tried the ProMax, but I do like the Dura Ace hubs a lot.
my next wheelset will be built on suzue promax non SB,dura ace just got way too expensive.
The DA hubs are really smooth, I like them a lot for street and track. If you want a stiffer wheel, pair them with deep section rims.
Or tie and solder the spokes....wicked stiff.
tie and solder:
www.businesscycles.com/trspokes.htm just another person's opinion on tie and solder. |
Bandt on tied spokes. One more opinion.
High Flanges all the way in my opinion. I have seen some tied and soldered wheels too...Still 100% true after 2years of messenger abuse....Like wheebuilding, it all depends on WHO does it and how well it was built in the first place, but that is cat's meow if you ask me!
People will laugh at you if you have low flange hubs on a track bike. Just so you know.
if anyone cares, i just found a source for high flange dura ace hubs for ~$300
