Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Courier Companies in Boston/Providence?

I'm moving to Providence RI, and I was wondering if anyone knew name/number/address of some bicycle courier companies in the Providence or Boston areas? I know of "Dash" in Providence, but is there any others, and what about names of some in Boston? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank You

from what i understand dash is the only company in providence and employs only 4 riders, so consider your chances of finding work there impossible. bostons has a ton of companies and its pretty easy to find work, although this late in the spring youre probably going to end up with a crappy company for a while.

Any idea for names? I've tried Monster.com and google, and I haven't found any, maybe I'm just searching the wrong words or something?

In Boston, there are a lot of different companies. If you aren't experienced, especially this time of year, it's City Express for you! The possibilty of doing well money wise is there, and it's not an independant contracter gig (they DO take taxes out of your checks). However, be prepared to bust your ass, get yelled at, treated poorly (depending on your dispatcher this might not be true, but chances are, it is), and learn the ropes the hard way.

Well, so far I've found numbers for Breakaway, City Express, and Ground Express, Inc. (usground).
Hopefully I can find something with one of those *crosses fingers*

Get a boston phonebook and look in it. There should be plenty of companies.

I work for Ground-ex. We're not hiring.

Breakaway - good luck. Normally you'll need experience, and this time of year courier companies aren't having too much trouble finding talented, experienced riders with experience IN Boston.

You can 'def get a job with City if you want, just try.
