Superbe Pro lockring???
 

I just had my Superbe Pro hubs built up and after installing my cog I attempted to put on my Dura Ace lockring and it would not fit. The threading appears differant. Anyone know it this is the case. Which lockring should I get. I guess it's not a big deal to ride on the track without a lockring because my instructor at the velodrome said that hardly anyone uses one.

My opinion - they put the threads for a lockring on a track hub for a reason. Some people may feel this inhibits their ability to swap cogs fast enough or something to that effect, or that the "extra weight" isn't worth the safety, and that is their choice (as it is yours).
I will be using mine.

if someone crashes on the velodrome and you suddenly find the need to reduce your speed but instead just spin off your cog and lose your balance and endanger someone else......... hmmm i think using lockrings might actually make more sense than not using them....

is your instructor any good?

i spun a cog off riding down in to the pits after a B-grade race about 12 years ago. no one got hurt but it was fncking embarrassing calling out to the A-graders "arghhhh. look ooutt!" as i rolled through the pits - the only resistance that was presenting itself was an array of bikes more expensive than mine and the prospect of a knuckle sandwich.

i'd have found it funnier if it didn't happen to me - so I use a lock ring now.

If the Dura Ace lockring doesn't fit, try a Campagnolo lockring. Maybe one of those guys at the velodrome will sell you theirs cheap, since they're not using it.

I had pro Shaun Wallace tell me not to use a lockring on the track. If you tighten the cog well, it won't just spin right off. But if you crash, then it probably will, which could save your knees.

I have those hubs and a Surly lockring will work, although not with a Surly cog, because the Surly cog is too narrow to fit snugly with the lockring, and it'll slip. An EAI cog/Surly lockring works.

You can still Suntour lockrings. Ask around. My LBS has a bunch.

They're pretty beefy lockings.

Hazy memory also says that you need a special locking for 12T cogs or smaller but maybe I'm just pulling that one out of my .... (This may only be true for suntour 12T cogs). Its been a long weekend.
