Fresh Garbage
I meant height. I'm thinking about the time I built a drop bar mtb and reading all the bar height discussions online

yeah when i first put these on, i ran the drops level with the saddle for a few days and had the worst neck/shoulder pain id had in awhile. i dropped them some and it's been the best bar i've ran in along time. the setup is pretty finicky but once you get it dialed, dirt drops are amazing. i'm used to running a pretty aggressive setup and having this amount of saddle to bar drop (at the drops which is where i ride 90% of the time on this bar) seems great.

Fresh Garbage
I only tried out the On-One Midge which I did not like very much in the long run because the drops are too stubby and the bike wasn't quite what I hoped.

this was my first dirt drop bike. i tried to match the fit to my steel road bike at the time. the only diff was that i flared my cinelli bars between two branches of a tree behind the bikeshop. diy or die.

Rebuilt the Lemond with the following specs:
-Shimano Dura-Ace 7800 groupset:
->53/39 standard cranks
->Short cage RD
->Band on FD
->7800 hubs > Mavic Open Pro rims
-Shimano 105 5700 12-27 cassette
-Shimano Ultegra 6700 BB
-Soma Highway One handlebars
-Nitto 626 Dynamic seatpost
-Vintage-ish Selle Italia Flite
Less setback on the post (15mm vs. 25mm on the Ritchey Classic) and compact drops vs. the round bends on the Ritchey Classics make this fit a lot better. I was too stretched out before.
The Highway Ones are pretty nice. I have pretty short fingers, so I prefer round bends so that I can reach the levers from the drops better. This have a nice shape that pairs well with the 7800 levers, so they seem pretty comfortable. First real ride in the morning.
EDIT: another pic from the first ride today.
