wondering what everyone thinks about these bikes.
to start i did recently try out the raleigh back alley and brooklyn bicycle co wythe. i do like the raleigh better but was looking for some thing less twitchy but not a sluggish as the wythe.

i really need help, i just dont want a ride that's true full track and twitchy.

For me to give you any feedback or "help", I certainly would need to know more about what you want this bike for, is it for paved roads only, or if you will be doing gravel roads or trails.


I imagine this may start a convoluted debate, however I have found in my experience, that impression of Twitchy can be reduced by going to wider tires and changing the handlebar set up. Just putting the same bar LOW verses UP changes that twitchy feeling some amount. (low feels more twitchy, high reduces twitchy). It's hard for me to get my mind around how the Raleigh could feel "too twitchy" while the Wyeth sluggish in comparison ....EXCEPT if you had two different sized tires and handlebar placements. (Or if the Wyeth tires were low in air.)


Anyway, my first impression is the Raleigh with a different (higher) handlebar setting and different tires would meet your primary goal of NOT too twitchy.


Without a doubt, based on your assessment so far of the two bikes you tested, I would recommend actually riding the bike before you plunk money down.


Also, General rule---A $1000 bike is going to be better, feel better than a $349 bike. So, how much to do want to spend knowing the bike that is almost 3 times the cost will probably feel better and be faster.

all pavement just wanted something that the back of the tire wont hit my toe and and frame that will last. and alittle less aggressive geometry.
