problems with clips + clipless shoes
okay so i got some Diadora Geko mountain shoes for my roadbike, and now how clipless pedals on them
but since i'm still getting to know my new fixed gear love, i have pedals with clips and straps on them
but when i try using the diadora's with the clip pedals they're way too hard to get in, and when i finaly do, and attempt to skip or skid, they come flying out, what the crap!?
is it the tread on them? i usualy wear nb754's that are almost bald on the bottom, but i guess that makes them better for clips

your question confuses me, you are using your clipless shoes in your clips and you are wondering why they are slipping out?

...wait - do you mean that on the fixed, you're wearing clipless shoes while riding on regular pedals, with baskets?

I can't wear MTB shoes with my clips and straps, because the tread on the bottom of the shoes are like spikes and they get caught on the edges of the pedal.

Ok so I guessing that THIS is what you mean..
NORMALLY you wear regular shoes with the toe strap pedals..
RECENTLY you switched to clipless pedals and your new MTB shoes...
when you are riding clipless you are unclipping while trying to stop or skid...
If this is what you are trying to say....then my suggestion is to TIGHTEN your pedals..They are probably too loose..Also try to pay attention to your feet to make sure you aren't twisting when you try and stop...

If the tread is preventing the cleat from engaging easily then get out yer dremel and trim the tread away from the cleat to make the space bigger.

Well there's the problem. Depending on the pedals you have, there's not enough tread to engage the pedal either for the shoe or the pedal. I have Gekos and I'd never wear them with clips because they're a harder compound and slip easier than a gummy running type shoe.

He is using clipless MTB shoes with a beefy tread with pedals that have clips/straps. He is having trouble getting his feet into the cages because the tread catches.
He shouldn't be using those shoes with those pedals. Just get some converse.

The Gekos are actually smoothed down the middle making the tread workable down the sides - hard to explain if I can't show you but they're basically sort of smooth and negate any teeth that a pedal may have. Depending on the type of pedal too - the MKS Sylvan are pretty teethless.
Which is why I switched to Sidi's anyway. Though I don't run clips and straps so...
Either way, ditto - get some low profile sneaks.

It is a shame that no one makes a stiff insole that you can slip into your everyday shoes for clips. That would be kind of nice I think...maybe not.
