Install a rear brake and squeeze the lever really hard while the bike is moving.

Typically you want to not wipe either at all or at least not well and then through the course of the day your tidy-whiteys will get a nice brown skid mark that you are looking for. Certainly sitting down and rubbing your butt forwards and backwards in the chair will help further develop your skidding technique.
However though I prefer making sure my anus is nice a clean. I typically use toilet paper but wipes also work (though don't flush them no matter what the package says, they are bad for the sewer system). I also like to avoid wearing tidy-whiteys and prefer a nice boxer-brief preferably from Exofficio (the sport mesh are my top favorites but I have many many many pairs of different ones)

Video of you "kissing the ground" please and thanks.
Then we will unlock the cheat code to you. You'll need the right version GameShark though.

Bullhorn Handlebars + "Balls to Stem" I think just about anyone could skid. Also since you're completely new, a lower gear ratio would help. Also skidding on wet pavement or gravel might help you get the feel for it and get a technique down.

Are you using proper foot retention? It shouldn't be that hard, just try to put your weight forward and pull up on your strap while you lock the opposite leg in the down position. I remember my buddy hopped on my bike for the first time and did a skid in his first 30 seconds ever riding a FG, so it can't be that hard.

I had a conversation with Portland's #1 fix gear mechanic a few years ago after I bought and rode some very grippy rain tires from him. He said he stopped carrying them. Folks were bringing them back after injuring themselves trying to stop by skidding. (Lesson - if you want to do a hard stop by skidding, use tires that slide easily. Interesting concept.)
