wheelset dilemma.

So I am considering getting a second wheelset for bad weather riding. The theory is that I would keep some more appropriate tires on them, and possibly a larger cog. The thing is that I want to buy a cheap wheelset to keep the cost down. Logic would hold that the better the wheels, the better they would hold up to inclimate conditions. However, they would also get used far less often.

If you were me, would you put the bad weather tires on the good wheels that will hold up better, or keep the good wheels for the skinny tires and majority of riding.

Please don't reply and say to buy another good set of wheels, I can't afford it, its not an option.

i'd use the crappy wheels for crappy weather, and if you can afford to get cartridge hubs they should hold up fine.

Hey, do you run ginandtacos.com? If so you might remember me. I work for the hosting company that hosted your site for a really long time. Fancy seeing you here!

Anyway I say the ones that get used the most should be the best set. That way you don't have to beat on the 'lesser' of the two sets as often, and they'll hopefully last longer. The better set will be up to the task.

Hope this helps with your decision. BTW what wheelset were you looking at? Tony at IRO has quoted me $180ish for what he says would be an indestrucable wheelset. Velocity DYAD rims on IRO hubs. Not a bad deal, if not an excellent one. Might be past your budget range though. Its past mine, for the moment.

build up a cheap wheelset using the nashbar hubset that's on sale right now for ~$45 -10%.

Yeah, thats me, or at least one of the people that runs it. So you worked for American Webhosting then.

Small world! Yeah I work for American Web Hosting still. 6+ years. New ownership too, and its great.

Heck, you're still hosted here! I thought you had moved on at some point. Better be extra polite now, seeing as you're a customer and all LOL
