Finally!
I have this old Gitane track bike that I haven't been riding. The wheels were tubulars and the dropouts were a little kooky (94mm front spacing and a funny burr on the rear left dropout that made mounting a more modern hub/axle impossible ). Anyway - I have also had this pair of phil based wheels that I wasn't using since the recent demise of my paramount. So here I am for the better part of a year with a nice track bike and a very nice set of wheels both going completely unused....
Last night - after a bottle of wine - I started some filing/bending/adjusting with a little tinkering thrown in for good measure. So the Phils are mounted and I expect to be out for my first ride on this bike in a year tomorrow. I had family visiting today and couldn't really get out - but the bike is hanging there on the stand looking all sexy and begging me to ride. |
pics!!
oh yeah, and congrats too! |
Ouch! No bike for a year? I really can't comprehend.
edit: nevermind, I get it. The Gitane... had the Gitane for a year, no ride. Gotcha. |
I would like to see it one day and show you my new buckled frame that I ride.
S/F< CEYA! |
Pics, dammit! I'm considering a Gitane frame for my next build, and want to see something to juice me up a bit. ;)

Okay - here are some pictures including a picture of the motivational bottle of wine. French wines, French bikes - yup.

round blades + tight clearance + flat crown = a fork of admirable proportion.
terrific gitane you have there, blindrobert. lower the damned stem . |
had to ride it first before adjusting anything: you were right - seatpost up, stem down.
So what do you guys think, the stickers/decals are all on top of the paint and I could just peel em' off. Should I do it? Might take another bottle of wine! |
i say leave them, i think they're cool.
|
Leave 'em.

Beautiful. On another note, last night over some very nice dinner at a cosy, intimate place I brought along a bottle of the Red Bicyclette wine, though the Chardonnay. Good stuff for the price. Admittedly, the girl and I picked it out because it had that cyclist on it and it was called Red Bicyclette!

absntr, where do you find these bicycle loving girls? terror_in_pink's thefge.com is cute, but we really need a way to find the girls, instead. Theyre the rare ones!
