Is the Sun M13/Shimano 2200 wheelset worth 85 bucks?

Any idea what the width would be?

those are road wheels, my guess: 100mm front, 130mm back. I believe 130mm is current rear road spacing. Might want to check in the Road Cycling Forum as someone might know more in that forum section.

Totally worth it. My shop charges $65 for a M13II/HB-2200 front alone.

It's hardly high end, but it's not trash either. The M13II is a solid, if unremarkable, rim and while the 2200 is a loose ball hub, I can't say that I've had any problems with it even in inclement weather use. Both my fixed 700c bikes have HB-2200 fronts.

Thanks for the tip, ordered a pair myself!

I broke another spoke on my bumbike wheel today, so I think its the gods telling me to build up a new wheelset..

Now to find cheap spokes and hubs.

peace,
sam

oddsandendos.com has 14 gauge wheelsmith for $0.32/spoke and you can order an exact amount.

*bonus* you get a choice of nipples.

Thanks for the feedback. I measured the Peugeot (CFX-10) frame and fork and it is 130/100.

Much better... but you might want to take a look at why you stripped your other hub.

Can anyone verify the measurements on these hubs for my spoke calculations? I've heard they are the same measurements as the IRO hubs, but is this true?

I'm going for some cheap wheelset love, and need to order my spokes online.. Don't want to wait until I've already got the hubs to make measurements and order spokes.

peace,
sam

It should be much better than the suzue SIL-SP's. Don't forget this comes with the lockrings, and if you strip one side, you still have the other fixed side. Also, cartridge bearings, and only like 45 shipped for the hubset.

assuming they're the same hubs my girlfriend got with her nashbar fixie wheelset a while back, you're going to have trouble spacing them to 130. i recall there barely being enough axle to get to 126 and still leave enough exposed thread for the track nuts to screw on.

if you can locate a replacement axle, it should be no problem.

also of note, over the course of setting up this bike (which involved taking the wheels on and off maybe 10 or 12 times), i stripped two of the four track nuts.

you might want to pick up some high-quality replacements before you start.

i stripped the basic because the lockring came a bit loose, the cog spun once, and that was it. normally i would assume that it had been my bad on the tightening of the lockring, but in this case i took it to the LBS, which knows a good deal about track bikes, and he cranked it down with the massive Paul tool, so i don't think that was the problem. it was a cheap hub anyways, so i'm not too upset. i'm just going to put the new one on the MA13II's i got with the suzue. I only paid $50 for the suzue rear, shimano front, laced to the MA13II's, so i'm not bothered.

Thanks for the help. Any reccomendations on cogs that work well with these? I don't want to risk using a stamped one. if anyone has one and has had success with dura ace or soma, or what not i'd appreciate the tip.
