Have any of you had embroidery work done on your Chrome bags?
 

On the back flap like Re-Load is doing? I want to have something done but I am wondering would an embroidery shop have to take the flap apart or could they do it straight through the flap layers. Maybe a custom patch is a better idea.

ummm.... so why not just got a RELoad bag? i've had three chrome bags and i'm much more satisfied with my RELoad bag. and they obviously take a more creative approach to their bags, so why not? chrome bags are too wide and shallow anyway, the look like cubes on your back, and the buckle release is whatever.

Because I have a Chrome and I am Poor. I am happy with my chrome also.

Maybe try silkscreening it then. Embroidery work is expensive, what's done on bags is a combo of embroidery & applique and it can range from a very simple design for a few bucks ($20 or so) to extremely complex for lotsa bucks (hundreds!)
You'd also have to pay (or risk a lil DIY that could cost you the bag) to have the flap removed as having the emboidery done through the flap & liner would kill the waterproof aspect of it. The tons of little stitches would suck water in like it was thirsty. Commercial embroidery is spensive and done by machines, the complexity doesn't matter then but rather the stitch count / colours.
it'd be less than a pro job but even more tiny stitches and they really wouldnt want to do it through the liner as it tends to grab onto the smaller needles used so you'd still have to get it off and on again.

i thought about putting some patches on mine, but then i'd just have a weather proof bag with soaking peices of fabric hanging from it..

silk screening seems notsobad though

anyone know if stickers stick to the PVC? or if they're easily removable

i've been thinking of screening something on mine for a while now. what, is the question.

as it stands i've got a row of about 30 little screw-in spikes running across the middle of the flap.

and standard vinyl stickers do adhere well to the plastic portion. i've got a "one less fixie" sticker on the back of mine right now (hey, just for kicks).

I was wondering how to attach patches, since you can't exactly sew them on. Fabric glue gun?

My ex-lady did some stitch work on her chrome. She did a flower or something. It looked pretty good, I guess...you know, for a flower!

You can - the liner isn't glued to the cordura outside so grab a piece of it and separate the two pieces and you can sew to the cordura layer on top.

Or you could get it airbrushed. Sure, the cheese factor is high but some friends of mine have had some pretty funny original stuff airbrushed on their bags.


What ever happened to good 'ol fashioned safety pins?

safety pins are too punkrawk for me, i did just put a "$0 per gallon" button no the flap, i think that'll be enough for me for now

I have never gone to have anything screenprinted before. Do most places allow you to bring in an image of your own. Maybe something on a disk? That would be perfect if so.

Why safety pin when I can sew (now that i know I can)?

My buddy Steve Mac @ ramblinworker.com does the meanest embroidery I've ever seen, he hooked my gf up with some mean vegan graphics, he also makes bags and framepads.
