I'm planning on getting a WI Eno hub and using it with my ISIS crank (double with inner chainring removed).

My question is regarding the chainline. THe WI website says the Eno hub lines up with the outer ring of most double cranks.

Are chainline adjustments made on the hub or with the BB? Unfortunatlely I think ISIS BBs are non adjustable in regards to chainline. That leaves me with hub only for adjustment.

In general does a crankset need to have an adjustable BB?

well, measure the chainline of your current ISIS crank's outer ring.
the eno should give you a chainline of around 45.5 mm with a 3/32" DA cog

most people adjust chainline using different length BB spindles, or BB's with adjustable cup positioning (phil, miche....) as far as i know, ISIS only comes in a couple of lengths. 108mm being shortest?

Shortest is 108mm and that is what I'd be using.

This must be the reason you guys like square taper cranks like the Sugino (adjustability)

How critical is chainline? Is it really worth dialing in with an adjustable BB? Or should I not lose sleep over this if it's not perfect (within reason)?

some people obsess, some people live with a millimeter or two.

as for why we like square taper, I think it's just by default. I can only think of 2 track cranks that aren't square taper.

After googling track cranks it looks like either 144 BCD or 110 BCD is the way to go due to the availabilty of 1/8" chainrings.

The FSA Vigorelli is ISIS and 144 BCD, but not really appealing visually to me. I guess it proves ISIS can be used though.

I've seen a FSA Gossamer Mega-Exo used in compact 110 BCD format with a rocket ring (I think that is 1/8"). That looked pretty sweet (rocket ring)

the larger the chainline deviation, the more likely our are to throw it. If the chainline is the only menas by mean you intend to stop, then can be a bad thing. If you plan on running a brake or two, it won't matter if the chain throws.
Nice call on the ENO - great stuff. The people I know that use them completely love them!

Just to toss in my two cents: I own two ENO flip-flops, both of which run on less than perfect chainlines. However, the bike with the chainline nearest to perfect (I haven't measured it) runs a 1/8" DA cog. The crank is an ancient Sakae. On my second boke (both are fixed) I had to adjust for the chainline by replacing the BB; it needed a slightly shorter spindle (113 vs. 118). And yes, the ENOs are all they're cracked to be.

Do 11 tooth fixed cogs exist? I've seen 12's, but never an 11.

I would think an 11 would be to small for a lockring.
