Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

ruined my fork

wednesday I crashed my bike...it's a cierra converted singlespeed road bike running 53-17... riding home from work and bent my fork bad enough that the front wheel wont sit straight enough to spin. Does anyone have any suggestions on 1) Is it worthwhile to try to bend it back? It is steel but I didn't crash that hard and I wonder about the quality of the fork to begin with and 2) Is there somewhere where I can maybe get a replacement fork steel or aluminum, I'm not picky, with a 1" threaded steer tube? I was bidding on one on ebay but got outbid at the last minute. Oh yeah, I'm a student on stipend and I am extremely tight on money right now so the cheaper the better.

Take your spent fork to the LBS, if they are good they'll tell you if it's possible to coldset it back or not.

Last time I crashed and bent my fork, it was toast but I got a nice new one (columbus fork) for like $30. Massive deals.
