Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? just got back, we'll get pictures up on our site soonish. It was a great event, Squid & company did a fantastic job all the way around. Got to see a bunch of old friends, make a few new ones and have a ton o' fun in NYC.
Mostly worked the days away although it was great fun as I got to see everyone at least once or twice in passing to browse stuff and make plans to hang at night. I only got to bomb manhatten on 2 wheels for most of friday during the day cept during open forum, but it was great. My wife was fixed while I was SS but it was real smooth, it's a fine thing for 80% of the vehicles to be commercial (taxis, trucks etc) cause they tend to drive better than blow joe and in a uniform fashion. She went off to the hotel to rest for a bit leaving me free to crank it to speed for awhile waiting for the forum to start. I think I Love NYC.
My knee went out on me hauling stuff up and down from our hotel room, 4 flights and 450 pounds of stuff every day/night so that kinda sucked to be at kissena on the sidelines but again it was fun to hang out with people I only get to see once or twice a year. Toronto swept the Sprints! GO TO! Squirrel did what he knew he could, kicked ass! GO TEXAS!

Brunelle = Was there, you can bet he'll have a kick ass video of the "King of the Streets" Alleycat thrown Sunday night. I saw him at the start and saw him finish, he placed in the top ten or so which means it'll be a fast fast video.

I got a chance to ride with Lucas & Msngr (before I got completely wiped climbing a hill in Central Park--too much drinking and not enough H2O earlier in the day) Saturday evening. Wicked fun, but not something I need to be doing all the time.

Was he wearing the helmet-cam for the alleycat? I had to leave earlier in the day.

Sam, it was good to meet you, even if only briefly. Sorry we didn't buy nothin!

I saw Lucas with the helmet cam on shortly before the alleycat. I didn't see him during the alleycat but that's probably because I did so poorly (I was half asleep the whole time...that's my story and I'm sticking to it).

Yeah he had it or...them ..(several cams, 2 on head and some on bike?) at the alleycat.

Hey no prob, good to meet you too, we always go to these races with the only goals in mind of being breaking even and having a good time. We couldn't afford to be "big" sponsors this year so registering, paying a vendor fee and making some prize bags and gift certificates was really just our efforts to support the NYC crew. We broke even, made friends and had a blast so we met all our goals.

I think we've seen the last of these videos free on the web...Lucas hooked up with the bicycle film festival people and I think they're gonna start selling DVDs or something.

Yes, this sucks.

I'd totally buy the DVD, but cmon, shouldn't there be spoilers? It's not like they're high res on the net or anything. And DVD sales would mean being able to afford more bandwidth, right?
