Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Ha! Hit by a cop? I think he was there when we got chased off and went to All Asia. There was no smacking involved. In fact Mr. Popo didn't even come over to say go home, he just got on the loud speaker and crackled something from across the street.

Haha! I think there was a bit of something lost in translation. Someone most likely overheard my story about getting punched by the County Sheriff at last Friday's Alleycat race. I was telling that story to a few people last night. But no...no one got punched last night. We were all civil and they didnt even bother to wander anywhere near us.

i saw the aftermath of the accident. Derek (i think that's who it was) is fine, although he said both his legs got run over. his bike however was destroyed. The women who hit him ran a red light and tagged him pretty hard, but like i said he is fine. The ambulance guys insisted on taking him in. The cop took down info but i don't think anyone was taken away. And i got plenty of pictures that i hope come out.

when did all this happen? at least he wasnt on his prized italian track frame, but man that sucks. that cop should have something filed against him, that's almost like trying to kill someone, tazering them while they were riding a bike? geez... and i thought them shooting pepperballs at defenseless college students was bad enough. bopo is getting out of hand these days.

maybe the cop read the phoenix article about how all cyclists are cop-killers and acted in pre-self-defense?

Yeah, I saw Jeremy last night and he seemed pretty down about the whole thing. It's pretty stupid.

Well that was fun. I met some nice guys: DancesInTraffic, Alex (a Vince Vaughn lookalike), a couple of odd spectator girls, the dead dude Derek (so tragic--you should've seen him), and an unreasonably fast guy on a Cervelo. I raced twice and lost comprehensively. BT, I didn't see you. shootfirst, were you the guy (without a flash) standing, rather shyly, off to the side? And to my team--yes, I was a captain--just remeber that defeat builds character.

I didn't make it out (I never actually ride, it's all a series of carefully crafted posts) for several different but lame reasons. I'm planning on next week.

I'm going to be out of town for the next two Thursdays, but I'll probably be there on the 28th.
