St. Louis- Foot High Pie Ride. July 17th
Considering this forum's affection for Pie, I was wondering if anyone was planning on doing it. Its 51 miles (some shorter loops are offered).
I was planning on driving down from Champaign to participate, the lure of foot high pie at the end is just too much to pass up. Although, I am told the pie is actually 5 miles from the end making the last five minutes seem very rough. I was planning on doing it geared with my dad who is training for the MS 150 (or I guess it is a MS 200 this year) but have toyed with the idea of doing it fixed.
July 17
Sunday - Registration 7:30 - 9 AM
Start: Glik Park, Highland, IL
Routes: 34, 42 or 51 miles
Terrain: Flat to gently rolling, no big hills
Features: Pleasant ride through the countryside with a stop at Blue Springs Cafe to
purchase great food and their famous foot high pies.
Directions: From St. Louis cross the PS Bridge, take I-70 east 24 miles to exit #24.
Go south on Hwy 143 for 4 miles to Highland. Turn right on Sportsman Rd. at Hardee's
and go two blocks to Glik Park.
Fees: $6 Member, $9 Non-member, $3 Child
Ride Sponsor: A-1 BICYCLE SALES

There's a similar kind of ride on Bainbridge Island near Seattle called "Bike for Pie." I didn't know that other people were doing it, too. You are talking about pie, right? As in apple, cherry, peach? Cause that's what I'm talking about.
I plan to do it on my fixie. . . and eat lots of pie.

I am a student at Eastern is there any way you would consider giving me a lift to the ride, I'll help with gas of course? I just sold my car and I don't think I can make it to St. Louis in time for the ride on my bike.
