Should Fixed-Gear and Messenger forums be seperated?

It seems everyone's getting bent out of shape about "those damn hipsters" or "those elitists messengers".

Just a suggestion.

Why bother? I bet there's fewer than a dozen working messengers on this board.

But we (not me, really) love being bent out of shape! It's part of the fixie culture.

ya know, If we just stopped talking about it either way, I mean dont even try and come up with a solution, dont discuss it, dont argue, just ignore it, the problem would just evaporate!

Let me say one thing, this will be the first and LAST time I ever throw my 2 cents into the ring about this topic

I think they should separate the messengers from the rest of society.

Don't embarass yourselves. Put down the torches and back away from the castle. Just ride your bike. Or give it up. Maybe you do not deserve your ride. Maybe YOU are proving that by putting some much more into something that is fruitless, you are killing your own desires. There are better causes to be had in life. If you can't handle someone "cramping your style" or "bagging on your vibe," go fold clothes in the stockroom at Marshall's or Target. Stay out of the public eye. Remove yourself from observation and back slowly into your own...safe...hell.

Everyone in here loves to whine! Stop dressing like a messenger, quit holding alleycats, why are you making fun of my bike, am I a posenger? Jaysus - grip hard people, so hard that you kill off any enjoyment that exists on your bike. Who are you looking for? A messenger who might scoff at you? F them. Or maybe a hipster who threatens your dignity? F them.

F everyone. Really. Me included.

I cannot believe that everyone is so threatened. C'mon. Hop on the ride. Push it til it hurts. Get off of it. Realize that life happened.

I think a sticky "hate" thread might be the way to go. Even if the discussions do get a bit heated, I think they're worthwhile and may as well be preserved prominently, if for no other reason than to discourage the jacking of unrelated threads.

where there is cross over there will be cross over. im sure there are messenger web boards, there are several messenger association groups. i would think they have their own messenger specific boards.

life with out drama is borring. argument seem to be realitivly friendly, if you dont want to deal with them move on to the next topic.

i think most of the topics here are also discussed in other bikeforum groups, and other site's forums.

People said the same thing about racism.

Life really is too short. People are gonna be the way they are. Everyday in this forum we "speak" to people that we have no clue about except that they own (or wish to) a fixed gear or single speed bike.

One thread of similarity is not enough to hold such a diverse group of people in complete harmony.

On the internet, just like in real life, you have to be thick skinned. Someone said something bad about your clothes or your bicycle.... What are your options... Shrug it off (they don't know who you are or where you are comming from) or fight back.

This is a place people can come to and whine, and vent and blow off steam. Its anonymous (for the most part, i know some of you are friends) and there is a wealth of knowledge here. If you don't like what someone posts about, you have the same options.

We are different. Which is why some of us lurk and others choose to post every little bit of thier lives here. Thats why i like comming here.

Nobody is getting bent out of shape. You just have to voice your true opinion rather than go along for the ride. Otherwise style/fashion wins over objectivity.

i want the messengers separated from the rest of us too. they smell and they ride those pesky track and field bikes.. i hate that

everywhere should be like chicago.. they tag em there so you know wether to care or not if you run down a biker.. thats progressive..
