Quick noob question

From what I understand about the langster, its a single speed not a fixed. And from what i understand about the bianchi pista its a fixe with no brakes. Ideally id like a bike in that price range which is a fixe (flip lop hub would be nice) with a front brake. Any Suggestions? (im kinda impartial to the langster since Ive been riding an allez for a while now)

If you like specialized, get the langster, take the back break off and convert it to a fix. Easy.

Throw a track cog and a lock ring on it. Doesn't it come with a f/f hub?

To be honest im not sure I read the technical specs http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkM...keTab=techspec but im still not sure.

yeah, I had a 2005 langster. they have a freewheel/fixed rear hub. It was a nice starter bike but it was also $600 that could've been better spent converting two nice steel roadies.

Langster is fixed/ free.
It is a nice ride.
Toss the tires out the door. They are crap.
Oh yeah the pedals suck too.

firstly the langster is aluminum and the pista is steel. most riders are devoted to one frame material or the other. allezs come in both materials.

secondly frame geometry. i believe the langster is road geometry, whereas the pista is definitely track geometry. (track bikes have higher bbs to avoid pedal strike thru corners as you will have to keep pedalling obviously).

thirdly the pista fork is drilled to take a brake, so you can mount one no problem. a cheapo tektro and lever from nashbar is all you need.

finally the current pista hub is fixed/fixed i believe.
