any clipon alternatives to SKS raceblades?
Hey all, I need some commuting fenders for my Surly Steamroller. It's got clearance, just no braze-ons for attaching fenders. I know people dig SKS raceblades, but I'm wondering if there are other clip-on fender options because the Raceblades don't cover much. More specifically, fenders that clip on but are the same size as full regular fenders?
Conversely, am I just seeing coverage problems on the Raceblades that don't exist? I'm mostly worried about the chainline/bottom bracket areas, not so much worried about my clothes. Any info would be much appreciated.

The problem with clip-on and smaller, reduced coverage fenders is that they really funnel the water at your feet/chainring/BB area.
I have a zefal clip rear similar to the one in the photo that I put on for rainy days. It does a good job at keeping the spray off my back/butt, but my feet and legs get really wet quickly from the water dirpping off the bottom of the fender. The clip ons do a ok job at keeping the water off you, but there's really no match for full coverage fenders.

From looking at the surly site the steam roller has all the required holes apart from dropout eyelets. You should have no trouble fitting a traditional mudguard using p clips clamped on the seat stays instead of eyelets.

You know d D, I never thought of that. I just looked at the p-clips holding the rack on the stays of my old touring bike and they are just perfect because the Surly is drilled for a rear brake so that will all work. Right on and thanks!
