Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

what do you prefer to see?
a well used fixie or a brand new clean one?

i prefer to see a well used fixie, since they looked like they have been well used. also it gives them a bit of character. i like seeing the battle scars and war wounds on them.

You're not like the other people here in the trailer park...

And I like to see both kinds of fixies. There's something nice about seeing a brand new, never been touched, one, but it's also nice to see a well-worn beater locked to a parking meter.

especially when it's locked to a parking meter with a big ass nyc chain that you could easily lift over the top. lock jobs like that totally crack me up.

Haha. That would be pretty funny. The worst part is, I bet there are would-be theives who look at it and think, "Damn, that chain is thick, I'm not even gonna try..."
