Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Boston Ride Thursday (Today)

As promised, here's your official info post for today's ride up to the boonies. We'll be meeting at Porter Square (in Cambridge) at 4:30 p.m. like we did on Tuesday. This afternoon's route will take us up to Bedford and then out on a loop west to Concord, down toward Lincoln, passing the DeCordova Museum + Sculpture Park (https://www.decordova.org) and the Walter Gropius house (https://www.spnea.org/visit/homes/gropius.htm), back up past Hanscom Field, and returning into Bedford, before we come back down to Cambridge. Total distance: approximately 40 miles. Be advised, I'm going to try to take us on a trail marked as "hard packed dirt". I doubt it will be a problem for anyone's bike, and if it looks too crappy, we can always take a normal road instead, but nevertheless, you've been "warned".

What's the pace like? I might be able to play aong but I have some sort of sore throat thing, so I probably shouldn't push it.

Why did I just tell my boss I'd fill in for one of my sick coworkers today?

I won't be there today. Trevor, the pace last week was 15-17, pretty relaxed.

DIT - I'm seriously starting a collection fund for you to get some bar tape at the least. If everyone throws in like $2, we'll probably have enough to get you some Cinelli by next week.

jrowe - You suck. But that's alright, we'll see you soon.

MH - If ya read our Tuesday thread, we said we'd be out again today!

trevor - Man, you always have excuses. But like j said, it's an easy pace with an average speed of no more than 17 mph.
