Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

HUGE difference

Was riding time atac's for a while, sold them with the bike... the next bike I got had SPD's.
I couldn't afford to drop another $100 to get new atac's(should have kept my old ones).
I thought I'd try the SPD's, a little weird at first but I got used to it. they'd unclip every once in while when skipping/skidding, scary.
Finally got new atac xs pedals and DAMN! So much better. got the float back, that easy clip in and out, the quality.
Anybody else make a little change to anything on ther bike that made a huge difference?

Do you happen to know the the difference between the ATAC XS and the ATAC XE? They look alike but the XE is a bit cheaper.

i don't really know the diff.... (edit - the xe's are 6g heavier according to performance's site)
check this link, performance has crazy pricing on atacs right now.
you can get atac xs for $104.98, or atac xs with a "free" hat for $129.99... a free $25 hat. the xe's are relatively cheap at $59.99

Best I can tell is the new XE is last year's XS. The new XS appears to have tension adjustment according to the new Performance catalog. Stick with the XE.
