Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Promotion of what? At work?

Inversely- financially I'm at a point where I have nothing to prove- and I'd rather commute to work on a beater fixie that I built myself than in my fully-loaded car... and I'd rather commute (ride with a purpose) than "just ride around" on my geared road bike. It isn't about gas prices... it isn't about the environment- I guess it is about powering my own transportation to work.

I could win the lottery and I wouldn't feel the need to ride a nicer bike.

don't get me started on what bike(s) I would ride if I won the lottery. I am positive I would have a custom Ti and a carbon frame as well. The latter would have Lightweight track wheels (Their L'Alpe d'Huez wheelset Lance and others use(d) for Mountain TT's weighs 1030g a pair and is as stiff as any other... Track could be under a kilo )
Definitely a vintage colnago with the awesome straight fork as well... See what you have done?

If money were no object... I 'd buy a killer TT bike and practice TT'ing more. Then enter more TT's. I already have two nice road bikes and ride as much as my schedule permits, so I doubt a promotion would change that. In fact I don't want any job that causes me to put in longer hours. I work only because I have to make a living, pay bills and feed myself and my expensive cycling habits.

It didn't change my riding style, but it changed the conditions. When I left the graveyard shift, I had to start riding during the day, which eventually got me to start using the trails to get the entire way to work...

If I won the lottery, I'd buy at least 3 sets of wheels from tony at IRO so I could eliminate my bumbike wheels, and upgrade to something nicer. That's all. I'm modest.

Obviously if I won the lottery, I'd buy all the girls on my block a color TV and a bottle of French perfume.

Something like that. Mention has been made of some of my exploits, as well as attire.

As The Smiths sang "And I'm not happy and I'm not sad."

Trying not to be, well.. you know.

Funny answers one and all.

I sit tonight and ponder what the meaning of it all is.

Why we are where we are and why things fall into that cycle.

Another day at the races, I would say.

Oh, and JOSH SUCKS for his travels.

ok, here we go.

i was sponsered this summer by ceya.. the bike he gave me was awesome.

however, the wheels he gave me were undenialbly the best things available.

i had more advantage using those wheels than i could have had using marty nothtein's legs.

i won races because of them.

actually, i got a promotion at work the same week someone broke into the apt. and stole the fixie, so it's changed my riding style A LOT...

I sometimes ride faster and more dangerously because I have to maintain the illusion I am a responsible and punctual leader for my staff.
