Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Philly to Boston

Myself, Nocoins, MattGarfield, and one other non-forums member will be embarking on a
single speed/fixed journey to Boston on Sunday September 4th. The plan is to get there and
back in 8 days with some layovers for hijinx in various metropolitan areas. If anyone would
like to roll with us for a portion of the trip, give us a tour of your neighborhood, or just say
"hi" drop me (or the other gents) a line. In true nerdly form, Matt has set up a blog to chart
our progress as we ride. If you're interested in getting to know us, our gear, or hear us talk
about our... feelings (blech!) click *here*.

We're still looking for a place to crash in Connecticut. If any kind soul can bear to house
four stinky dudes with bikes for a night please let us know. We'd even cook you breakfast!

Kewl. Planning on hitting the hub on the 8th, then? I'd def be up to getting together. I might even buy everyone a beer. I'm sure some other idiots on here would do likewise (get together, that is... I won't commit their beer money on their behalf). Got a route laid out yet?

We'll be spending Sunday night (Sept 4th), Monday (Sept 5th), and Sunday (Sept 11th) in NYC if anyone up there wants to hang out. We might be able to use a bike friendly escort around the city rather than just letting us come rolling with our Philly badittudes all over your junk.

thanks for the offer, trevor.
the first part of the trip (philly to nyc) will be with an annual BCP ride. after that it's going to be matt's gps assisted treo device (it plots out a route that's bike friendly!!!) with some road map backups.

bostontrevor- sounds like a plan man. send me a personal message with your contact info (preferrably email, cell number and address) and we'll get in touch! I'd like to keep a well documented contacts list of the people who help and hang and get some pictures for the blog. (bike nerds are still nerds at heart).

WERD!

When are you guys heading back? I may be interested in tagging along to NYC from Boston if I can make it there for the Kissena event on the 11th.

Oh, also, I'd be happy to join in on the boozing as long as we can schedule it around Thursday races at MIT. Speaking of which, Boston dudes, let's get this big again before it gets too cold to do it anymore.

Man, if this were like 2 weeks later, I'd ride up to my place in CT with you. All I can do I guess is suggest a mountain trail you can crash on if you have gear. I could probably navegate you through central CT if you need any help. On another note, I know there's a couple decent folks in New Haven or something, who might let you crash, they post on myspace fixedgeararmy and classicpista group. Goodluck.

Man, Boston's gonna get us WASTED! Do you guys have any beer that's a knee regenerate?

jrowedc- send me a personal message with your contact info (name, cell, address) and we'll get in touch when we're in town. If we can get all you folks together for the same night, we'll decend on a hot spot and claim it in the name of Philadelphia. Then drink your beer... and soda.

I propose Delux in South End. It's kind of a silly place, but it's near me and they serve cold beer. Trevor, what do you say?

I know of Delux, but I don't think I've ever been. Let's do it. Widen my horizons and all that garbage.

well boston, be gentle- we're going to be a little saddle sore after riding all the way up there just to get wasted and be taken advantage of. I don;t want to have one hott night be the equivalent of 300 miles worth of riding.

9 on Thursday the 8th then. And don't worry about the drinking. I have a century to ride that weekend myself.
