Fuji Track questions...
 

I know people have posted about the Fuji Track like a million times but I had a few specific questions...I was looking at the 2006 Pista($550) and stumbled across this bike. There's a sale at one of my LBS for $400. I know this is a good deal but the things I've read says that it will take a few months for the rear wheel/hub to need replacing...will the Fuji Track at $400 still be a good deal after 6 months of riding to and from class/work/everywhere else? Any other opinions?

Do you know if they've changed the rims / spokes / hubs from the 2005 model? I haven't seen the components on any of the 2006 models yet. If you've got that info, please post it to help others offer and educated opinion.

I believe the 2005 model features Formula hubs, an upgrade from what they had on previous years.

buy it at 400. you can't go wrong.

But make sure you get the right size!

A 2005? Buy it if you have the opportunity. I'm pleased with mine. The wheels held up just fine for 8 months before going into semi-retirement. The frame's gone thru hundreds of miles. I've only had some weird ticking that comes from the BB once in a while.

I was messing around trackstanding on one of these (it was a bit small for me, but shouldn't matter). I'm sure you guys love them, but I found this thing to be a total wet noodle. It was flexing A LOT, more than my 83 Trek 500. I was shocked. I thought track frames were supposed to be stiff! :mad:

i have a 2004, and my back wheel lasted almost a year, until i broke a spoke on the drive side, and they stripped the threads on the fixed side taking the cog off. apparently the threads are soft. either way the bearing were shot. my front wheel, on the other hand is on my other fixie, and it is still going strong.

other than the back wheel i've had no problems.

My fuji (04) is holding up okay. It's my first steel frame in a while, and it won't be my last. the changes I've made to it were: 18t Surly Cog, Surly Tensioner, new stem and 1" thredless adapter and nitto time trial bars. It's been in constant use since July, with plenty of skidding thrown in for good measure. I was able to get my Fuji for $400 out the door. $400 isn't bad for an 18-19 lb bike. My bike weighs around 20 lbs now with all my extras. I had a conversion I was building up at the time, but when I figured I needed to get a new wheelset, the $400 didn't look too bad, since my convo was on an old schwinn gaspipe.
