Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Ttown swap meetup?

It's never too early to be thinking about the ttown swap... I've been waiting all summer!

so, as there's conversation about a forum meetup, and
as many of us are planning on going to ttown anyway, and
as the swap closes at 2pm anyway...

would folks want to do an east coast forum meetup at 2pm?

I'd do that. If there's anybody in the Northern Philly suburbs that needs a ride, let me know. Griffin maybe?

The last couple times I went to the swap meet there wasn't much around later in the afternoon. So if you're really looking to score something in particular, you might want to try to get there earlier.

From what I've read in the past, there should be some dudes there selling Keirin frames/parts.

Is this the case?

At least two out of four times I've gone, there have been Keirin frames for sale. The one time I went to the swap, there was practically nothing there though. It was a weird mid-summer swap with just a few vendors while the juniors were racing.

I'm in Warminster, and if I recall you said you're in Glenside?

T-Town is about an hour and a half down 309 from me. I didn't mean to single you out - you were just the only area person that came to mind. I know there was one or two more people somewhere...

i didn't have a problem being singled out at all, i was actually suprised at how considerate you were. thanks, and i'll let you know.
and yeah glenside, right at the bottom of 309
and 476 looks like a much quicker and straighter shot to the place
1 hour 5 minutes according to google

I've been trying to figure out how to get a ride down there! I guess I could beg my uncle for his car but I don't think that's going to work... anyone have any ideas?

Flights from Boston (or right outside Boston, actually) to Philly on Southwest airlines are still only about $30, I think. You could take a couple days off and fly down. I can get you a ride to the velodrome, if needed and maybe someone else could loan you a couch.

I'd love to go, but it's a little tricky. I'll most likely be in NYC the night before, and I need to get back home to Boston that night or the next morning. I haven't decided if I'm going to take my car. Maybe the Fung Wah bus to and from NYC, and than perhaps I could hitch a ride to T-Town and back with some of you city folk.

I'm getting there in the early morning (5 am) with some friends and I will be rabidly searching for a keirin frame in my size (58x58) or something similar. Hopefully nothing will stand in the way of me and my frame.
