Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Getting the trackstands now. And getting out of the pedals is second nature already.

But, I can only hold the trackstands for a few seconds. Like, I feel the balance, then it's gone, lol. I keep either just falling to the left, or over-rocking and starting to do the whole backwards 360 thing. More practice I guess. My back doesn't hurt so much anymore, guess I was too tense, but my upper back/neck hurts... saddle too low? handlebars need adjusting?

Thanks again guys.

shorter stem if you feel you're over-reaching. first thing i switched on my pista was the stem.

and if you're going straight into backwards 360s then fuuck a trackstand - find three equally dextrous friends, buy matching skinsuits and get on the hardwood!!!

Well, I'm not totally doing a 360, I usually bail before i get even 180, but that's the direction I'm going.

Trying trackstands tonight, (gotta learn sometime), I found it made my back hurt? and I couldn't do it at all, (that's where a lot of my spills came from, losing balance and not getting feet out to catch myself.)

Any tips, suggestions, advice, well wishes, ANYTHING, for the noobie would be great. Already love cycling, now I love it more with a fixed.
