2nd time total, the first time was a couple years ago and i rode my friends fuji track bike about 3 feet before being totally freaked out and jumping off the thing and thinking "no, this is not for me", and i had recently ordered an IRO mark V with the intention of making it singlespeed, and i'm selling my old BMX that i rode maybe 10 times so my friend on his fixie showed me a route to bike to work today (i work in downtown crossing in boston and live right off the bike path in cambridge) and about halfway there he asks if i'd like to give the fixie a try, which being curious i do (being scared completely of them) start off going slow and practice stopping a few times (he also has a front brake incase i needed it, i ended up not needing it at all) and i take it for a spin through the common and downtown crossing and stop in to see my wife at work (also works in downtown crossing) elated that i conquered my fear, but also i just found it even EASIER to control than a bike with conventional brakes, completely the opposite of what i was expecting, and i was sold. he let me ride it all the way back and i decided to keep my mark v fixed. and am now even more psyched for it to get here.

it helped a lot reading a lot of the advice on here and one of the webpages that was posted in one of the threads which basically explained how to do everything and what to look out for and such.

so thanks, i am converted.

ha ha one thing i've been noticing since getting home is my muscles keep like twitching from applying the back pressure to the brakes, reminds me of how after i go swimming it sometimes feels like i'm still swimming. i still feel like i'm trying to apply back pressure.

Oh, I simply left out a few words. I meant to write, "Now I have to go lay my grammar book down." ;)
