yeah, i read about that. they want to turn it into a ped friendly area or something. put in a couple bars and what not.

hijack??? can we get a beer thread sticky?? just for a week.

as far as cheap beer goes: i get bottles of Affligem (750 ml; really good belgium beer) for $8 at the local bar. with the alcohol content i think its the equivalent of 5 PBR's or something like that. good beer doesn't have to cost a fortune. i don't mind PBR once i've had a couple better beers first.

Yeah that part of the city is actually alright, aside from the jail and detention center; its pretty cool and safe to walk through there. Ive talked with a handful of people around the pabst brewery and they were very friendly and happy to talk, unlike some of the people Ive encounted in other parts of downtown. I wouldnt dismiss it as wasted land or anything, it comes no where near as devastated as some of the blocks in Flint or Detroit. I dont know very much about the bankrupcy of Pabst, but i have my doubts they went out of their way to **** the employees like GM did.

Lion Brewery? I believe they specialize in bottled piss. Their Lion's Head beer is even cheaper and worse than Pabst.

yes, lionshead is terrible, but at 9 dollars a case it's sometimes a desperate option but one you have to take

I'm a beer snob so I'd rather not drink beer than drink piss or beer flavored water, it's just not worth the displeasure of the nasty aftertaste inherent in all bad beer.

agreed - i've been on a belgian beer bender recently. good stuff. Ommegang, a belgian-style abbey ale brewed here in NY, is also really good, and they brew Hennepin - yet another fine belgian ale. mmmmm.....

alcohol content is around 8.5%, so a little goes a long way. or, a lot gets you sh1tfaced.

FNB -- respek on the new avatar. If I've learned anything from my time on the forum, it's the wonders of the FSM. Word to g-d.

I just had a good sandwich and I just overheard my coworker say that Tom Delay has been indicted. Feeling good.

Belgian ale is great! Lately I've been on Fin Du Monde (the end of the world), which is brewed in Quebec. The 9% alc. content classifies it as a hard liquor by the state.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, but didn't Georgia partially sponsor KYOTOLoco? This pic came from the Tokyo metro.

speaking of which:

https://tinyurl.com/blejw

I know I've found a forum that fits when one thread talks about bikes, beer and pastafarians all at once. And on the question of cheap beer - just brew your own, cheaper and, when you're good at it, as good or better than most of what you could buy anyway. It's a hobby that becomes as involving as building up bikes - plus you get drunk.
